Lake Whitney - Park Hosts through June 30th

We’re ensconced at Lake Whitney State Park through June 30th and are enjoying our volunteer jobs Park Hosting.   Our commitment as Park Hosts is to engage a combined minimum of 25 hours per week in our assigned duties – or about 13 hours, as we do our volunteering together;  duties which for the most part is picking up litter, cleaning the fire pits, assisting & advising campers when we notice minor rules violations or when they are in need of assistance.

Lake Whitney is a fairly large lake, maybe 20 miles long, and boasts great fishing.  We haven’t tried fishing yet but will soon.  The State park can accommodate maybe 300 individual camp sites, many with full hook-ups, some with only water & Electric, and some tent only sites.  There are also several enclosed individual screen shelters. The park also has a 2000 ft. landing strip for small aircraft.

The nearby town of Whitney is just about 4 miles and has a population of just over 2000. The nearest WalMart is in Hillsboro, TX – about 16 miles from Whitney.  We’re roughly 70 miles South of Dallas/Ft. Worth.  Stop in and see us!

In Uniform, ready to work.  We are provided with this 'Mule' to get around the Park.
