We're Off!

We're off on our fourth recent year in a row travelling West.  Our 25th trip West in last 47 years.  First stop = Suwannee River State Park near Live Oak, FL.  Our first day out was a grand total 184 miles which for us, is about an average travel day.  The benefit of being retired is that we don't need to go fast or far, so as a general rule, we usually keep travel days to no more than 200 miles, and we rarely stay anywhere just one night.  We're here for three nights next to the Suwannee River, which, thanks to heavy rainfall in Georgia, is at flood stage. As a result, all the trails in the park are closed as well as the boat ramp and river access.  Campground is dry so no problem.

The local wild life is relaxed & waiting for a handout

It's good to be on the road again. June & I travelled West on our honeymoon 47 years ago and did that 12 years in a row every vacation.  When Daniel was 2, we flew to Spokane, WA, then again with Dan and Kane to Salt Lake City & Yellowstone when they were about 5 & 8.   For some reason, the West has always been a draw on us, so that may be why we still love it and will spend next winter in Tucson, AZ.   We'll post more when we get on down the road.
