June 19 - August 18

Our time here in Escalante, Utah has been wonderful.  But, we're now itching to go.  Our departure date is August 29th - we'll update the blog again when we get in the road and let you know what we're up to.

Not a lot to update since the last post, except for a couple visitors:

Some new friends that we met at our Heartland Owners Club Rally in May, Trace & Terri, were here in the park for five nights. We had a really nice time showing them around the area and a couple of the hidden sites not shown on the tourist maps.

Terry, June, Trace, Terri - Under This circular pictograph that's very unique. A closeup shows people figures holding hands.
Locals call this The Circle of Friends

Also, some lifelong friends from Kettering, Ohio stopped by on their way home from visiting their children in Seattle.  John and Pat grew up in the same neighborhood as June & I.  We loved seeing them again.

An unusual sight one morning about 7:00 A.M. was this Hummingbird that was hanging from the line where we hang our hummingbird feeder.

I looked out, as I do every morning, at the feeder and watched the hummingbirds at the feeder.  A few minutes later I walked out to see this bird hanging upside down.  It looked dead, but I did see a small occasional flutter.  June inspected also and thought it was alive, but the flutter was very slight.  About 30 minutes passed and we looked out and the bird was gone. No signs anywhere.  We suspect it may have flown into our window, got stunned, and was recovering.  Strange.

We'll miss this area, but we are anxious to get on the move.  We'll update once we get going again.
