Our winter here in Tucson has been great. Weather has been wonderful; we did have a few nights in December and January that dipped to about 28 degrees, and we had a few days of rain. Locals tell us the amount of rain this winter was unusual, but overall, it's been a great winter. We arrived here October 27th and the A/C has been on maybe three days. We have turned on the heat a number of times early in the AM as it has dipped into the 30's a few times, but it warms up fast outside and by mid morning windows are open.
This park, Voyager RV Resort, has been a great place to winter. Maybe the best place we've stayed to date. The amenities are wonderful. Of course there is an active Shuffleboard group, and I've participated in several tournaments as well as the winter team league. Our team didn't do well, but I was the top winner on the team. I also took the Gold medal in the Tucson Senior Olympics, and a couple of second and third place finishes in singles play competing with players from several parks in the Tucson area.
June participated in the Chapel Choir, a Barbershop chorus, The Showtime Choir, A fun band, and spent many hours rehearsing to be in a play Guys and Dolls. I went to see the play at June's insistence and it was a really good play. At the last minute, June couldn't be in the play, as the week prior, she spent a total of four days in the hospital with a blood clot in the leg and lung, and a hematoma in her arm that was causing quite a bit of pain. She is now on drugs to dissolve the clots and although still with some arm pain, will see a full recovery soon.
Two of our RV waste water dump valves were not operating smoothly and our over range microwave stopped working. I called an RV mobile service tech and he replaced the valves and installed a new microwave. We had an extended warranty which covered the entire $1500 bill, except for the $100 deductible. We were satisfied and now back to like new.
While here, our Arizona Chapter of the Heartland Owners Club (Our RV manufacturer) held a Rally over in Quartzite, AZ as well as a couple of Meet N Greets; One in Phoenix area and another here in Tucson. The Quartzite Rally was a 5 day event at an RV resort. Quartzite is an area where there are literally thousands of RV'ers who simply drive out into the desert and spend the winter. There are trucks that come around selling water and pump out holding tanks for a reasonable fee. We stayed at an RV resort. During our time there, there was an RV show that had more RV's for sale and other RV stuff than I had ever seen in one location. Quite a site. The Meet N Greets are basically a gathering over lunch on an agreed upon date and place. No RV's. A nice time to get together and talk about our travels.
Our chapter leader has a ranch about 50 miles from Tucson in Elgin, AZ. He invited us to his ranch a couple of times for a BarBQ... A great gesture and we had a great time each visit.
Other side trips while here included several trips to Saguaro National Park which is just 10 miles away. We spent several days here hiking the trails and enjoying the Saguaro's.
We also spent one day in Sun City near Phoenix, visiting friends LouAnn and Dewey Mort. June went to same grade school and grew up in same neighborhood with LouAnn.
We will be leaving here on March 27th. We'll post more when we leave and keep you up to date.

These Saguaro's don't get their arms until they are about 50 years old. These are not yet 50, and some are over 200 years old. That's why they are a protected plant here in Arizona. |

Early one morning we had a bit of snow here. It's the only day we had any, and it was gone before 10 A.M. |
